The artwork’s sole purpose is the acknowledgement and celebration of the heroism of ordinary Ukrainian people, be it soldiers, territorial defense, or simple civilians, who did not give up when faced by the unprecedented attack of a much stronger opponent. These brave souls who did not succumb to the rule of the tyrant, but instead rose up and have been using every last bit of courage, ingenuity and blood to defend their country, their loved ones, their home. The story that inspired this drawing: Due to bad morale, flawed planning, poor logistics during the first days of the invasion and simply as a result of fighting, many Russian vehicles have been abandoned and subsequently captured by Ukrainians. Such instances are not only limited to soldiers, but even Ukrainian civilians have also gotten their hands on this “war booty”. There have been several videos of farming tractors and other civilian vehicles pulling away captured Russian military vehicles. The fate of these vehicles is unknown, but it is possible some of them were reused by the Ukrainian military.

It should be noted that such endeavors are not limited to the Ukrainians. Russian army and the separatists have also captured multiple Ukrainian vehicles. Capturing and reusing enemy’s equipment is a common practice during any war and will be utilized by both sides. However, what stands out about this conflict specifically is that even civilians are taking part in this, meaning that even those who can not directly fight do their best to hinder the progress of the occupiers.
