Description
10.5 inches (27cm) tall. Assembled from hunderds of pieces of broken crockery. I collected loads of cheap or even free plates and saucers from charity shops. I smashed them with a hammer and assembled the pieces against a jig using hot melt glue. It took ages, but I think it was worth the effort.Related content

Outstanding! Have you looked at Andy Goldsworthy's work? Vague similarities, I think, but I like your process with this piece. Great stuff.

The method is facinating. I have a room in my barn full of broken china and glass. I want to make an entire garden wall like this using cement! Problem is that I am 50 years old already....

In Wales where there is a lot of slate, they have made beautiful walls for centuries. The idea for Ceramic Vessel came from this one which is quite new: [link]

i'm curious to know how many times you cut yourself in the process?! very good job and i love the shape. you could've gone simpler but opted for a challenge. NICE!

Don't remember cutting myself at all -- the bits of china aren't as sharp as broken glass. I did burn myself with hot-melt glue a few times, though.

Wow, I'm highly impressed, you must have the patience of a saint to have got through all that, great work!

Well I'm glad you like it. I had to work in short sessions of a couple of hours as the smell of the glue gave me a headache. I don't normally think of myself as a patient person, more stubborn or even pig-headed

Ahh, it's good being stubborn and pig-headed, it's a sign of strength of character

Yeah, and stubborness and pig-headedness are my finest qualities. Some fools think patience is a good thing, me, I think it's one of the few faults I don't have.

Patience can indeed be considered a fault, a fault of fools, bwahaha! I always find insanity is a much better quirk to have.
