Description
I saw that this was out in shops in the UK, so I can share it now. Similar to that demo I did for a class a few months back. Trying to make a point about how to use reference without copying. I did a full write up of my thoughts and process etc and its a four page article in this issuebeta.imaginefx.com/shop/magaziβ¦
So you should go and check it out! cheers

This is a fabulous idea! Β Thanks so much for sharing!
I have to admit, though: Β I'm concerned for the older lady. Β No one should look that careworn while wearing a crepe paper party crown. Β -_^

I like to think that it's just an older and younger version of the same person.

I see. You only used it as a lighting reference.

yes, and for some more abstract/indirect forms and drawing issues also, for example the general structure of the skull and placement of the features.

Let say a person didn't all that. The just reused the reference the way it is, and just gave her long hair, or a fedora. Can you elaborate a little more on how to use a reference.
I know in the art community we don't talk about artistic plagiarism because most of us already know the fundamentals.
How close to the reference of a photograph do we have to get before it turns into plagiarism?
