Any advice on how to do the lines if you suck at doing lines?

We're talking about Photoshop, right? You might notice that I mention the Freeform pen tool, which is one of the alternates for the pen tool (and the only one that I ever use). When you draw a line (path) with the Freeform pen tool, it automatically gets optimized. Then you can drag/change the various anchors and levers of the path to make your line look the way you want it. Once you're happy with it, you can right click it and choose 'Stroke path', which will make a line with the tool of your choice (i.e: the pencil or the paintbrush tool)
Hope that helps.
