Imagine my surprise when I saw the crystal pony version of Apple Jack had a hat included!~ So exciting! Hasbro is not mine, these are not custom ponies...just a custom painted hat.

Took my blade to the front of the hat, then painted it and sealed it with varnish when I was done. I can't even begin to tell you how detailed these little pony accessories are and yet without paint you really can't see how much work the sculptor did! If you're worried about painting her hat, don't, I did this one with four colors of paint, a sandy brown, white, green and red. The trick to making it look really good is once you do the base coat of brown, let it dry, then mix in a little white to the brown color and do a very light dry brush (just a bit of paint on the brush, mostly wiped off just to highlight the raised areas) and it really makes the thing stand out. I could have done more by doing some staining on the green areas to make those stand out more but I was in a hurry to get it done.

I decided to swap out the hat to the original version of Apple Jack just to see what she'd look like with bangs - unlike the tinsel maned crystal version. Can't help it though...I do love tinsel hair, so she got included in the photo. ^_^
