Description
This was taken at a funeral for another K-9 officer. While focusing my camera, I just happened upon Sgt. McIntosh paying respects to his fallen K-9 partner.Related content

I can't imagine my baby [doggy] dying one way or another. A partner in crime [fighting] must be equivalent to that pain one feels over family passing. Very good picture. Captured perfectly.

This is such a beautifully sad moment, I almost started crying...just...wow. It's always so sad when an animal dies, especially one you've grown a real bond with...the only thing we can do is remember that they are in a better place.
Is this a pet cemetery or a special area of land specifically for K-9 officers?

Former Bike Patrol Officer, but, not with the department that this officer was from.
Sorry for the delayed response. I've been away from dA for most of the month. I've had a serious family emergency going on. Hope to be back soon, though.
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!

Sad, just so sad I've always loved animals and have grown attached to every family dogs we've had growing up, as well I had a cat when I was about 5. Cats have always been my favorite and when it died, I bawled my eyes out for a couple days and always remembered him, even as an adult now. The family lost a dog we had for 8 or 9 years since he was born, that day was one of the most saddest day for us (me, 4 brothers and parents) and we had a proper funeral for him. Animals arn't human, but they certainly have a heart for loving and are easy to bond to.
Very nice dedication on this image

I instantly choked up at this. I almost feel like I'm invading on this man's grieving by absorbing this shot, but sharing in his mourning for these amazingly selfless creatures can't be a negative. So much thanks to the two and four legged forces out there at all times protecting the innocents. Thank you.

This is sad and touching.
I've met a lot of K-9 officers in the past, so it's always sad to see them go, but I am happy that people take the time to thank them for their service, even after death. After all, a good officer deserves to remain in memory, regardless of being human or not.

This picture is one word Awesome, I am so happy that police actually make a site for their fallen canine brothers. I didn't know they did, probably because my town has no canine, but thank you for this look into the life of what goes on when the fallen furry police pass on.
