I'm using vray for the rendering and forest pack to scatter the grass on the ground.

can you tell me what is "forest pack"?
I don't use vray and don't know

Forest pack is a plugin for 3ds max that allows you to scatter a lot of objects on surfaces, it works with Vray and mental ray : [link]
You can use it to create grass, forests, and scatter pretty much any objects you want on any surface. It's also very performance friendly since it uses proxies, you can have a lot of object in your scene without having slow render times.

and those grasses are transparent textures or it has such "geometry"?

they are geometry, each grass group is about 25k polys and they are scattered about 50'000 times in the scene.

and rendering doesn't take a time?
what time it took for your scene? and please specify your specs

it still takes some time, I have an intel 2600k@ 4.6ghz and 16gb of ram, and it took about 5-6min to render.

that's with that resolution?
so for me it would take 5 times that, 30 min.
and, if I had used reflections, it would take a lot more, especially on big scenes and big resolution

do you use mentalray ? maybe you should try vray out? personally I really love vray, it's fast, and the shaders are really great

and you should pay for it.
but actually for time I didn't mean for mr, I meant my specs are bad
and yet mr is full of strangeness you still can use it.

Wow! I really love this. It's peaceful and simple, but you can see how much attention to detail there is. This is masterful.
Do you have a version with dimensions more suited for use as a desktop background by any chance?

Thank you
Sadly for now it's only in this format, but I'll make it large and wider later as I'm still working on it. maybe I'll finish it later today or tomorrow.
