Description I was scrolling through the submissions over on 'Color-me-club' and I stumbled upon this wonderful piece of lineart that I just had to attempt colouring!  Once again it was a good learning exercise, with plenty of metallics to practice on, as well as the big plume of smoke which is something I have never attempted before.  I did screw up Warmachines face, and ended up having to go a couple of shades darker than I had intended to hide my mistakes, but overall I am happy.

The whole picture was hand coloured with Windsor and Newton Promarkers in around 4-5 hours.

Credit where credit is due, the original pencil sketch was drawn by Juliusdean and can be found here:

Thank you, I'm really pleased with the progress I have made on my metallics recently, the practice is paying off.

I totally agree about the smoke, I looked at countless pictures of smoke plumes, but just couldn't get my head around the best way to tackle them, and my end result is a little disappointing.  I'll certainly have a go at treating it as I would a normal cloud next time, that actually makes sense.

Also, I didn't realise until just now, and it is only really noticeable in the zoomed in view, but Iron Man's 'blue' eyes have turned 'green'.  I guess the blue ink of the eyes, and the yellow ink of the face plate must have bled through the page and combined.

Well once again, thanks again for the feedback and advice.

Your coloring on the metalics is spot on!

That said, your smoke has room for improvement, I'd say to check out references of clouds! They are almost structured more the way you'd shade a tree/bush as it's dependent of how much light is able to penetrate the cloud of dust, so the light/dark areas arent shaded the same as a conventionally solid mass.
