Description
Focused on the concept that a baby and its mother are always connected, either mentally or physically. By using a range of mediums, from thread to fingerprints, and being inspired by a bank of artists, I sought to deliver this connection. In particular, Francis Bacon has influenced my works both thematically and technically. In this specific piece, the dark red tone was inspired by Bacon's 'Three Studies for a Portrait of Lucian Freud' as well as Marlene Dumas' 'I am my mother's daughter', which I believed has effectively created a dreadful atmosphere for them. As a result, my painting of a dead baby gave a haunting impression to many audience.
