Description
I have a thing about pianos, especially grands. The one material item I really covet!I have a real problem with pianos that are used as... furniture *argh*
to me, a piano is not complete unless it is being played. Hence the title of this vector. A piano is waiting for someone to sit down and fulfil its intent - to make music.
all done in illustrator. designed to be a print (one of these days I'll have to figure out what I have to do to submit it as a print to be bought).
enjoy

Well, Paul, you now have even more friends here, and you are welcome in my humble home anytime. Take care my friend, and maybe one fine day I shall have the priviledge of meeting you and your dear wife as well as introducing you to mine. Live long, and prosper.

Ahh.. this one of puddly-wonderful. Especially love the metallicky look of the gradients!
I love what you did with the slight gray shadow under the piano, and the title. It just looks so niftily clean, and organized.
I can almost hear a toasty tune jumping out of it.
Ahaha...
And the reflection on the lid of the piano! Wahhhh!
All the timespun detail and effort gushing out of this

yeah. The piano took me a long time. It was a good way of getting to know some of the tools in illustrator though. It's a great program.
thanks for the comment.

Ooh, this one is beautiful. If I had a grand (or any piano at all) I'd put this somewhere close to it. As to remind myself that pianos aren't furnitures
Now I wish I had a piano again

thank you. I miss playing the piano at the moment (I don't have easy access to one), so it irks me even more when people have them and never use them.

Haha, I can see what you mean. We used to have a piano, but we couldn't take it with us when we moved a year ago. Unfortunatly we never used it () because it wasn't tuned at all...

I would have to agree with you on the fact that a piano should not just be a piece of funiture, being a pianist I can't stand it when people have beautiful Grands, and no one around can play it. I would if I could afford a Grand. u.u I may be no genius, but I find a certain charm in acoustic piano that no "keyboard" could ever capture. though I play both instruments on a daily basis I definately have my favorite. This Picture is beautiful, the piano is Wonderfully detailed. ..... and Abstract, another style I like. what did you use as a reference, a magazine, the real thing, or what? I love this picture ^.^ Fav

thanks for the comment and the fav. The piano was vectored using a photo of a Yamaha grand as reference. Yeah - I prefer the real thing too. If I ever have money to buy a grand and somewhere to put it...

I know you've heard it before, but I would like to reiterate how wonderful the detail is! It's easy to appreciate the time put into it. You really should make a print of this one 'cause I have a friend I would get it for!

It's nice... Yet it feels a too details to be logged as vector.

thanks... I was going for detail
unfortunately, vector is simply the name for a medium, like oil paints or charcoal. As I did the thing in illustrator, I have no choice but to put it in with vectors...

Steinway concert grand *drools*
when I was an undergrad I had access to a beautiful old Steinway in a chapel with great acoustics. My playing improved a lot at the time (cos I played nearly every day)...

Someone that can work gradient fills? I'll be back for you then.
The bottom part of the 'W', have you tried it without the border showing through?
You cheated with the keys.
As for prints, you have to open a prints account, pay some money, and then you're set. (Well, there's all that finding customers with plastic bit...)
Reminds me I should go practice, but 7pmmay be a little late for my neighbours.

yeah - there's a few gradient fills in this. I tried to get the piano looking as realistic as possible. took a while, but it was fun to do...
mmph - I hadn't actually noticed the border through the W. thanks for that. will correct that at some point
ah, you play? good for you.

Squee, thank you! (I'm currently looking for brushes, so I'm in a digital art mood.)
Yeah, I'm begining to think a unfretted string instrument might be a bad choice for someone who doesn't have a natural ear. (But I couldn't fit a grand in my tiny flat. )
