Description
Role: Experimental Design Test bedManufacturer: Flight Imperium Air Company
Primary Users: Air Vis Romanum (Testing)
First Flight: AD 1943
The Prototypum series of aircraft are Flight Imperium's Test beds for future designs. All of the A series of planes started out as a Prototypum Model, with the Prototypum-1 soon becoming the AVR's revered A-1. By far the most used test bed however is the basic design known as the Prototypum-10. Originally conceived as a new fighter aircraft to be designated 'A-10' it was soon kept in prototype state and worked off of to develop new designs for later series A-1's, 2's, and 3's primarily.
The design was built to solve the issues present with the A 1 and 4 in particular, mainly the front heavy nature of the aircraft. The P-10 put the engine (originally an IF32-Parvis) nearer to the center and between the wings. This not only balanced the weight but it also opened up the nose. The more balanced weight proved to give the aircraft superior performance even to the A-4 in dogfighting tests. This came with a retained strength in speed and climb rate from the unarmored prototype A-4.
The P-10b was built around the original IF32 that the A-1 had, which with the armor not built in made for a very fast interceptor that carried superior maneuverability to the A-1. It was less maneuverable tan the a model due to the larger and heavier engine, but proved to be nonetheless a massive step up. It's design principles would go on to be implemented in the A-1D model, along with future models of the A-2 and 4 primarily.
Many other variants were developed, some with different armaments, others with different levels of armor, further more with different wing designs. It remains a primary and popular test bed for Flight Imperium to this day for fighter sized aircraft.

I would think so, things are more balanced in the design, it's not so long-nosed as previous variants.
