I use SAI, but it really doesn't matter what program you use. Similar results should show up as long as you follow the basic steps.
It doesn't matter what brushes you use. I use many brushes and it changes depending on the pic
But the main brush I used to render was a flat, rectangular brush. Idk where I downloaded mine, but Rough, Middle, and Fine flat brushes work pretty much the same way.
Set the blending to about 20, dilution a low number, and persistence to a high number (mine is at 80.)
I hope this helped. If you have more questions, feel free to ask. But like I said in the pic, I am not an expert at shading, lighting, anatomy, basically everything XD

Rendering is when I make a new layer on top of all the layers I have currently and paint over everything. I normally use smaller bruhses and add in more details, make everything look smoother, etc.
There's a lot of stuff that makes a picture look good besides coloring ;n; so I can prolly check it out, but I won't be able to give good feedback. I'm not an expert at anatomy, lighting, etc. just yet.

If you want advice on coloring, then you'll have to ask me something more specific (like how to achieve a certain texture, etc.) I can't give general tips on how to paint "good" bc I don't think there's one way to do that
