Oh, it's something you use in photoshop. Like a background of sorts. Usually, they have a "clear" (white, but when you open it up in photoshop its empty with just the design showing) background and are in .png file format. Also called 3D fractal renders and abstract 3D renders, if thats any help...

Apophysis. It's freeware. So if you just google the name you should be able to find it.
