Description
Psyca rubbed her eyes and blinked. The hazy sky around her kept shifting, flowing. With a startled gasp she realized that there was nothing below her; she was floating in this strange, lavender sky. Flashes of lightining lit up the haze around her."Where am I?" she whispered, glancing around. "Am I dreaming?"
"Not... exactly..."
Psyca whipped around to face the strange voice. It was deep and calm, reassuring. It reminded her of her grandmother. Hovering in the air behind her was a young woman with sad, deep sapphire eyes and glittering wings.
"You're a Fai..." Psyca breathed slowly, eyes widening.
"A new Fai. The first new Fai born in over seven centuries," the woman answered.
Psyca tore her eyes away from the sparkling wings to examine the rest of the woman. Startling deep eyes watched her and midnight blue hair sway gently in some ethereal wind. Psyca brushed her own hair from her eyes and spoke. "Who are you?"
"I am... Avano's heir."
Psyca frowned and tilted her head. "Really?" she asked skeptically.
"Really," the woman answered serenely.
"Then why would you choose to visit someone like me? I'm nobody..."
The woman reached out and caught Psyca's arm in a firm, but gentle grip. Psyca could feel strength in her arms and calluses under the fur of her hands from years of hard work. "Oh no, Psyca. You're certainly not a nobody. Someday... someday not too far in your future you will become something far, far greater than what you are now."
"How do you know that?" Psyca queried, still frowning.
"Because one day, not so long ago in my past, I stood where you are now."
Psyca as she was as a child and Psyca as an adult.
This was a pain to do. It took forever to get their hands and arms right... and I still think they look a little too long. x.X Oh well.
