Description Featuring Cinderella!

Ok! Story time!
When I was little I always wondered why Cinderella was so special. She's basically the face of Disney and I never knew why. I didn't really like her, and yet her story was told and retold by so many different movie production companies. Then I found out why:
Before Cinderella came out, Walt Disney was struggling. Snow White had launched his company, but it was going downhill from there. Sure, Fantasia and Pinocchio were good films, but they weren't making a profit for Disney. Cinderella was going to be the last film Disney ever made, so he put his all into it. And then something amazing happened: Cinderella was a huge hit at the box office. So much so that it jump started Disney's company all over again and he went on the being one of the most successful companies in the world. Cinderella had revived Walt Disney, and is the reason why we have all these wonderful films from his company today.

So! With that said, I kept Cinderella in her classic blue color. I used much of the fashion inspiration from Prince Charming's mother, with a tiny bit of Lady Tremaine thrown in there.
And with Cinderella concludes my list of "official" Disney Princesses. However, I have a lot more unofficial princesses and leading ladies to create! We are not done here!

I actually quite enjoyed the third sequel. It had decent animation and some great themes, not to mention it really brought out the Prince's personality (he ends up being such a goofball and I love it!)

Sleeping Beauty was actually a bigger film for Disney. Ever notice how, in the last bit of the movie, all of the main characters are mysteriously silent and don't utter even a word; not a sound? Sleeping Beauty bankrupt Disney. They couldn't even afford to pay the voice actors for the end of the film (this is legit, and you can even look it up.) They thought they'd have to close their doors once production was done, but it did so well, it kept the company afloat.

They actually had a mini special on this on the Disney channel some years ago when they made the actual area of DisneyWorld about the movie.

Disney had a couple of phases of nearly closing its doors. Take the period between Snow White and Cinderella, for example. Snow White launched the company, but after a decade or so of smaller, less profitable films, the company was going downhill fast. Cinderella was expected to be their final film, but it did so well at the box office that it brought the company back up from its slump!

It seems even companies that create magic had a rough start to them!
Thank you for all your information!!!

Basically with each era there is a princess that jump-started the Disney company again. Snow White was the first, then Cinderella, then Ariel, and now it would seem that Elsa (and Anna by extension) are bringing in the new era (because you hardly ever hear people talking about Rapunzel anymore).

Very true! Although I personally know a few friends who like Rapunzel more than Anna and Elsa, and they never fail to mention it to me!
