My little cousins told me that I was in the Saturday newspaper, and I didn't really believe them until they had shown me this! I've never really been on the newspaper before, yet haven't a picture taken for it either. Well, this was on Friday Feb. 4 and I was one of my homeroom class's representatives to take care of the money that goes to our assistant principal, and take the poster that we've made around the gym area for everyone to see. It was a pep rally, so the whole entire school was there. That's me on the right side, and that's the other representative for our homeroom class. I don't look much like my fursona do I? Well that's because I used to have long hair, then my mom decided to chop it off. The funny thing was, when the Hickory Daily Record photographer asked for our names, we both replied, "Samantha" and he was surprised. XD Now that's funny. He also took the picture at a slanted view, but that's okay. Here's what the article said about the event:

Northview Middle School's gymnasium was filled with cheering students and faculty Friday. A pep rally celebrated the start of a month-long effort to raise money for southeast Asia tsunami victimes. Instead of a one-time event, the students plan activities throughout February. The fund-raising theme, "Hawks have Heart," consists of several events:
1) Purchasing paper hearts for a dollar honoring a person.
2) Snack awards for students this week.
3) At a Valentine's Day dance this Friday, students can offer a dollar donation and be a part of a pizza party.
At the end of the month, all proceeds will be given to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
