Description
This is the singer of Epica ([link] ). She ask me to draw her another time from a personal photographie, i'm honored, this is the drawings!She'll give me a CD for this one, i'm honored again...

Friends of me who live in europ speak to her in a festival (they weren't really know at this time) and they were on the crowd after their gig... so my friend show to her my first drawing of her [link] and i wasnt very good at this moment but she really loved my work... she ask them to send to her my MSN... so she was speaking to me and asking me to draw another portrait of her, a personal one, i accepted. so i draw this one... and after, she had speak of me to the rest of the band and Mark Jansen had the idea to ask me to draw all members for the dvd booklet, so here i've done this : [link] and they were really happy of the result, so my drawing is in the dvd of "We will take you with us" and my name is on links of the website of the groupe : [link]
i've meet them after that in Amsterdam ( paradiso, special concert) and after here, in quebec city and montreal, now they know me and simone ask me for some other drawing, but too personal to show here
So when I draw, i never know where i'm gonna be tomorrow

I love it! you're very talented! but what pencil do you use for the background look so black?

i've use a very dark pencil that i dont remember the name right now, but anyway, i've put the background more black with photoshop, cause it wasent as good as it was in real life... so i've put it all black with a tool for the web, it shows a better idea, cause in real life it's really dark !!...

You did a great job, and yeah, she looks blond. But you can't really convey red in black and white like you can blond or brunette. I know, I have two drawings of a red-head in my gallery, and she looks like a brunette in both!

Wow! C'est grâce à ce dessin que j'ai eu envie de savoir ce qu'est Epica... je suis allée chercher Cry For The Moon et franchement je trouve ça trop génial! (même si j'ai pas la voix de death metal par dessus lol) entk bref, merci pour m'avoir fait découvrir ce groupe et félicitation pour ton talent incroyable en dessin. J'en reviens juste pas! J'arrête pas de te mettre des favoris et c pas pour rien!

I think this one is my favorite. I see the best likness, with super detail. (not your most detailed piece in your gallery)
But the reson why this is my favorite has got to be because of the challenge you faced on a bright red head, into a blackand grey drawing.

the eyes are magic, but i think its the result of change of light that created them, as your skill was so true to the original, (which you must have had a larger reference) the change of hair color has brought them out it would seem.

Reacently i also made the challenge of a portrait, it is my daughter of age two i attempted. It's not near as nice.
I' dont know if i'll post its result, finished or not. (acsess to scanners and digitals is limited) besides that, not sure if i possible could until i can be 90% sure or more of its truth to how beutifull she really is.
I had trouble with the mouth lighting, where i had a light shade brightness to create, simular to where you've succeeded. It was ruined by my erases and smeared into a mess. I should a tryed it larger.
Back to the subect now..... you should be very proud of this work.

Un petit truc.... pour trouver quel degré d'ombre dessinner sur des cheveux, tu peux mettre la photo couleur en "greyscale"... ça rend la tache plus facile...

michi bien, les tons et les valeurs des couleurs, je l'ai déja très bien dans l'oeil
on avait fait un test dans un de mes cours, on prennait une photos dans un magasine, en noir et blanc, on a découper des parties, on a coller la photo sur un carton et dans les espace qu'on avait enlever (maintenant blanc) on les refesait avec de la couleur (de l'acrylique) et pis jai fait le test pour voir si c'était bien rendu (photocopie), et franchement j'ai été très étonner par mon résultat
