Description
This is an airplane I made in Maya for my Surface, lighting, and shader class. Getting the texture to look right on the plane seem to take forever.Related content

The model looks great. The texture is pretty good I only find the part with the windows a bit of.
The background is a little to dark compared with the airplane.
I think you can make it even more realistic when you use Final Gathering, So the colors reflect in a better way.
Also make Change the material shader of the airplain's windows in Phongs or Dylectric material.
For better lighting and a background that fits: Use image based lighting. It will give the plain natural reflections and lighting of it's real environment.
To give it a realistic shade, Render a Occlussion pass, Add that image in Photoshop with a Multipy belding mode.

The lighting is extremely cool. I love those colours. I know how hard it is to get textures right on anything other than a square. Great work there.

Thanks! Sometime texturing can be annoying too.

Thanks! The UVs were a bit annoying on this one and if the model was flipped around, you can see an error but I didn't have to animate this one so I didn't have to worry about fixing the texture on that side. I don't own Maya but I did this at my college that has the full version of Maya.

Ooh...you did do a good job on this; I haven't had to texture anything this complex yet. What version of Maya was current when you did this?

Wow. That's GORGEOUS! I'm gonna be going to college for illustration and 3-D media, so hopefully my stuff'll look as good as this when I'm done!
