Nice one! You got exactly the right angle to obtain the relevant parts sharp.

Awesome shot! It's pretty hard to get good pictures through glass, especially when most reptile houses tend to have low lighting.

Beautiful photo! However, I think this is Crotalus simus, the Middle American Rattlesnake. The patterns look very close to that of an Eastern or Western Diamondback, but the giveaway is the band going down from the eye similar to that of the Timber Rattlesnake(C. horridus) and the two stripes that start at the back of each eye and travel down the neck a short distance.
It's great to see this species photographed; there aren't many good pictures of them readily available, especially at this size and quality!

thanks for the info! i looked it up on Pittsburgh Zoo's website. the only two snakes listed (for that particular building) was either the aruba island rattlesnake, or the northern copperhead. i looked at different photos online of both, definitely not the copperhead.
i then checked out the aruba snake, and saw that it has varying colors. then i saw a few that looked just like mine.
thanks tho!

I know Aruba Island rattlers have a pattern similar to Middle American rattlers, but I have never seen them this saturated before. Everything I've seen has been a light cream or dust color with the pattern barely visible.
Granted, I've never been to the Pittsburgh zoo, so I wouldn't know exactly what their specimens would look like!

it didn't help that there was a strong yellow light on it
