Description
“Sadism is not a name finally given to a practice as old as Eros; it is a massive cultural fact which appeared precisely at the end of the eighteenth century, and which constitutes one of the greatest conversations of Western imagination: unreason transformed into delirium of the heart, madness of desire, the insane dialogue of love and death in the limitless presumption of appetite.”― Michael Foucault

Great find.
What is this precise date/occurrence Foucault refers to?

That would be the guillotine festival of the French Revolution, it's a quote from Madness and Civilization.
Imo this happens all the time, it just comes and goes in different forms..

I see. Yeah, I'd say sadism has manifested itself since the beginning as one fad or another.
Even God plucked a rib from Adam to create Eve ;]
I just now realized the word sadism derives from the Marquis de Sade.

Indeed, your sugar cubes will certainly be grateful for that.

So those white things are sugar cubes, I though that they are fridges and tea cups are forcefully mating them.
Hmm, maybe I've been reading too much Anaïs Nin's diaries lately...

You're welcome.
I am sure I would have been just as intrigued as you. How could one not be, yes? there may be no blood here but you still can't help but feel a bit sad for these guys. ^^
