Currently I like the one where the pilots and everyone else involved feel so jolly good about themselves because they truly believe that they're doing the world a big favour. It's the modern version of that old arrogant martyresque it's-a-dirty-job-but-someone's-gotta-do-it feeling. Yuk!

Sounds like you believe in some of the conspiracies (or you're being sarcastic). Chem/bio-warfare seems it could be easily proven or debunked almost immediately. Population control conspiracies might take some long term analysis. Weather control seems unlikely except for minor influences over very small areas. There must be many other paranoias about them, but I find psychological control to be the most interesting and hardest to prove or debunk.

Oh yes, psychological control, very interesting topic! I remember Slavoj Zizek (I'm not a fan of the man's political ideas, but I sometimes find him entertaining and interesting) talking about that many many years ago: the technology to directly control people's minds (thoughts, desires, decisions, actions,..) already exists. It's also a fact that this control is indistinguishable from the experience of free will. The aluminium raining down on us, haarp and what not could very well be the new rich man's hobby.
Unfortunately most conspiracy theorists take things too seriously. I mean, sure, it is serious business with serious consequences, but they think that the perpetrators are serious too. They still naively believe that we human beings actually matter to them. And that's where I beg to differ. What would you do if you had all those trillions of $ to spend and all the power that comes with it? (Keep in mind that they didn't earn their trillions by being sweethearts) I think it's not so far-fetched at all to assume that some powerful folks see the planet as their playground. The Sims for real. Not so much 'weather control' but rather 'boyishly fooling around with the weather-controls'. In stead of 'population control', a more appropriate term would simply be 'pest control' or 'diverting big parts of the population to Big Pharma in order to make even more $'. Maybe there are a few families/clans competing with each other in this planetary scale game. And of course, psychological control -on several levels- is always good for some great laughs. Well, at least someone's having fun, huh..
