Deviants, this is what happens when art trades go a bit too far.

Soo, a few weeks ago, Miss and I decided that- hey, since we've got a lot of fandom tastes in common, why not do an art trade? So we went through the regular trading procedures, noting each other and such~
Bottom Line: She asked for somethin' with Leeler or Iron Giant, and I got bitten by a plot bunny so fast I barely had time to flinch. Thus, this comic you see before you was born!

Yeah, it's not very long, but whoo boy, it was alot to draw x.x Don't get me wrong - it was actually a lot of fun and I learned so much through doing it! ^^ Panel spacing and such~ I do believe that this is the most I've ever worked on a comic(YAY MILESTONE!), which is pathetic really - wouldja look at those obviously rushed backgrounds ? The crap consistency? The messy lines? Ahem! and we will never speak of those cotton candy - I mean, flower boxes again, agreed?

This was completed in kind of an odd way. I stayed up reaally late one night sketching this is Opencanvas. Then, a couple nights later I pulled an all-nighter inking this in Paint Tool Sai. Finally, a few days ago(a couple weeks after the initial drawing), I pulled another allnighter and coloured it in Photoshop.
In all, that's prolly a few days I spent on this. What a journey~! I'd like to especially thank for sharing zombie mode with me in those early early hours of the day and giving me great feedback on things every step of the way - sketching, inking, AND, colouring! You don't know how amazing you are and how much I appreciate everything you've done to improve this artistic venture! ;-; THANK YOU!!!

Gosh, however time consuming they are, I most definitely need to do comics more often. DB< (In fact, I've been secretly planning two hypothetical comics where RD is a main character, in my head, but I'm not sure I'll ever get to them! shhh)

ANYWAYZ, the comic itself.

Storywise:

so liek, bender was all 'hey leela, i liek u, lets go out sumtime, k?' and leela said 'o ok' and they did. the end.

But really, a bunch of things happened, prolly some really character developmental stuff that'd make the realization that they have feelings for each other and agree to go out on a date make more sense. Too bad I didn't comic that, too. xP Ooh! You could pretend that 'Twilight Theft' ( [link] ) happened some time before this! Like, the very beginnings of everything; and 'Lunch Shift' ([link] ) happened sometime before or after this comic. Take your pick. B:

The reason Bender's all dressed up is simply 'cause when Bender wants to impress, he wants to IMPRESS. Aand the reason Leela's not dressed up is not because I forgot to draw her differently, oh no. They agreed to a date, but they didn't say when, so Bender picked a random day to show up at her place to get her, and she didn't have time to get dressy, 'cause they had a reservation at Elzar's that would expire if they didn't get there in five minutes, sooo... yeah. Don't worry, Bender'll give her more notice next time.
