What I figure is that he and Bender worked something out beforehand; I can't see Bender just movin' in on Fry's girl behind his buddy's back. That would be kind of jerk-ish of him D:
Let's say that this is a alt universe where Fry has come to a point in which he has found someone else other than Leela and he's given Bender permission to pursue her. That works, right? x)
