He'll always be Captain Marvel to me
Anyways I had difficulty with this, I first tried going the magical God of War route and giving him an item from each of the gods but it just looked too busy.
Among Superhero costumes Black Adam is one of my all time favorites. Drawing from that I removed the cape, which I tried and failed to do with Superman. The collar on his jacket is meant to evoke a military or authority figure seeing as he calls himself Captain. The short sleeves were an attempt to keep the youthfulness of Billy Batson in Captain Marvel without resorting to dumbing down the character. The sash was could have stayed but I really wanted to use the belt in the design.
Not so much a redesign as a few tweaks, hopefully its evident that the material isn't skin tight.

Sick. The lollipop is a nice touch too. I could definitely see Billy Batson blowing bubblegum during a battle.

I like this! Β It's sort of a parallel to Jamie McKelvie's recent redesign of Ms. Marvel to Captain Marvel over at the OTHER company -- not that one is derivative of the other, but that you both drew from the same idea of "The Captain" implying more a military uniform than red long johns.

it's just not the World's Mightest Mortal without that trapeze cape.
But I DO like that jacket. This design invokes in my eye more of a "Professional Adventurer" feel than a super hero.

I have a feeling that the original design for Captain Marvel would be the most appropriate. I see the Shazam power as being largely influenced by the mind of whomever possess said power, and since Billy Bastion is a grade school kid, I have a feeling that his Captain Marvel form may have been based off of the doodles he made of his own superhero identity that he made while thinking of the exciting world-saving adventures Superman gets to go on, dreaming of all the good dead he could possibly do if he had that kind of power.

Nice clean design. Always saw him as a "golden age" hero. Like the lollipop to show his youth. Another suggestion could have been bubble gum with him blowing a bubble.

Yeah he is very much Golden Age to me. My thinking is that he looks retro because Billy has a love for old serial shows and adventure films from like the 40s
