Description
Ambushed!
Rocco hurled his cards across the room and pulled a gat from his jacket.
Jimmy and Mitch closed in, both of 'em twichin' at the trigger to clean the slate and make Lenny the Loser fold for the last time.
"Lenny, you've been diggin' a hole fer yerself big enough to bury us all. Now you've dug the last sod outta me!"

Another film noir experiment.
I was hoping for a better outline of the Luger-totin' Jimmy coming in from the balcony. Next time I'll hang a light toned sheet behind him to bring out the silouette. Any other suggestions? Next shoot there'll be more forethought and more time with my models.

what if instead of being able to see the gunman, all visible was the shadow of the hand and gun on the curtain?

I love the facial expression. The darkness is a nice element too.
Well done.

I think I am reading them backwards... still makes sence as each of these images could really stand alone, you have mastered the gangland feel and this one really shows the emotion perfectly. As always, the lighting you have used is perfect, it really opens up the seeder feel of this sort of situation.

It is a little hard to see Jimmy coming in, but a stronger light source outlining his body would work, you can see it under his right forarm and waist. More of that might work. If he was a little further in and had a little light on the gun from inside its shadow would show up nicely on the curtains too, you can see the barrel a little here. I think the expression on Lenny's face is perfect. And the curtains behind him give some nice bkgnd definition in the low light.
All these shots are reminding me of Kubrick's The Killing for some reason, though I haven't seen it in quite awhile. I seem to remember a low-lit card game in that movie that just dripped noir.
Anyway you're doing a great job on these, low light is not easy.

I actually like the darkness of this, goes along with the mood of the moment you are creating. Nice how the curtains look, great shadow-play.
I love his expression...he BEST watch out!

oooooh!! Excellent expression! I can almost hear his heart beating like a frightened rabbit! Love that hard contrast and the shadow on the curtain as well as how the standing figure is shrouded in darkness

Oh yeah, and next time I try this set-up I'll have the cards tumbling from Lenny's hands.
