Description
©2007 Sarah B. Seiter - Do not use without permissionI have a little boy who is so sweet. Who would have known that one little boy could make a life so full of joy and wonder. This is a tribute to him.
I have been working on this one for over a year since I sketched the basic drawing and tucked it away in a file. I found it the other day and decided it was time to finish it.

Our troupe is pretty eclectic...we do predominantly cabaret style dance but really would be classified as fusion since most of our dancers incorporate many different styles into their dancing. We've had a guest instructor teaching us American Tribal for a few months now and that's been fun (although i'm really bad at it). We use Suhaila technique for our movements and also learn some traditional dances - like Moroccan, Tunisian, Saudi. Probably a longer answer than you wanted but there you go
Oh! And we're called Aalim Bellydance

That's great
I really wish the troop I belong to would teach some other styles along with tribal. I have a lot of fun with it, but since I haven't tried other styles, I do not know if any of them would suit me better. I guess that is what comes of living in an area where there are only a few belly dancers. Are there many troops near your home?
I checked out your web site Looks like fun!

Hey Sarah - sorry it took me so long to continue our conversation
To answer your question, yes there are LOTS of troupes where i live. I'm in St. Louis, MO and our bellydance scene has been growing lately. I've only been dancing for two years but my teacher has been dancing here in St. Louis for over 30 years and she can attest to the growth of the scene. She belonged to the original (and only) troupe in the area when she started and now there are probably 10+ schools here, not to mention independent teachers and performers.
Is there anyone in your area who teaches cabaret or Egyptian style dance? It's pretty different from tribal, much more upbeat (i'm sure you've seen videos though so you probably know what it looks like). I would be surprised if you don't have any cabaret teachers around you.
Thanks for checking out the website I think i'm going to update it with some new photos today!

lol now it's my turn to apologize for taking so long to reply
I know there are a couple of troops that do cabaret and/or egyptian about an hour from where I live, but it's just too far for me to drive on a regular basis, so I go with the one that is close by. I would love to learn all the styles so I could make a more informed choice about which I like best I love to dance. In fact I met my husband at a local country dance several years back lol

Let's see, Sarah. Save this until they young fellow is old enough to properly appreciate the fine-looking females attending him, then give him a copy of it.
Lovely work, by the way.
