You can tell I’m still obsessing over a thing hard when I start drawing fanart for a prequel book %) seriously though, if you love Incredibles and still haven’t read ‘A Real Stretch’, go read it - it’s a really entertaining story which is set in the golden age of supers, and is told from Elastigirl's POV. That's kind of the whole point of his character too... He's the stereotypical black friend of the white suburban family. He is literally the quintessential example of cinematic tokenism lol.
Mind you, "token" doesn't mean "unequal." I don't know where you got that idea from. Tokenism isn't even negative by definition. It's just a concept, and like all concepts it all depends on how you apply it.

Tokenism is offensive because it implies the character's only relevance is for the white characters. Frozone is a strong character on his own and he's not stereotypical at all. If he was Asian or any other race nobody would consider him a "token"

It's okay though. As I said, tokenism isn't inherently bad. Really, it all depends on how tokenism applied. Frozone is still a good character. Popular too! However, he's still the Token Black Guy.

He is a hero and has a wife (maybe kids) and life outside of the Parr family. Helping them doesn't make him a stereotype. Why isn't Edna Mode the token Asian lady? All she does is make suits and obnoxiously go on about how fabulous everything is.

Ideally you wouldn't stop at "token (insert minority here)" or "token woman (I think there are technically slightly more women than men if China is ignored, which makes them not a minority by the literal definition?)" but Hollywood, for all its talk of dreams, is very far from ideal.
