Description
I'm a Christian and am proud of it!I was actually inspired by deviantArt member Luckywolf to draw this, since her pieces are so bouncy and energetic and I wanted to do something similar. I think this is probably the first Christian-based composition I've ever sketched....
Speaking of Luckywolf, here is the link to her page, if you're interested:
Go check out her gallery! She's got some really neat stuff.
The rat in the picture is just a random rat, by the way. I don't really know who the little fuzzball is other than the fact that he represents myself. (heheh)
-- Mitch
P.S./Edit: A pose enacted by Jr. the elephant, from Disney's The Jungle Book, was used as a reference for the sketch above.
Edit -- Part 2: Oh, woah. I just realized that this characters' back hind feet don't compliment each other! The ankles vary in both size and width. Ah well. Practice makes perfect!
Tools:
- Non-photo blue pencil
- Pen
- HB pencil (black)
- Eraser
- Photoshop CS2 (used to darken image and partially cleanse background)

I don't understand why this rat is proud. Animals don't have souls.

Well, he's supposed to be my "fursona" (a.k.a., myself as a rat).

Wow, this is SO cool!
To start off, I'll talk about the picture itself. I love the way you drew this, it looks very light-hearted and cute. The shading is absolutely fantastic and the ear is really cool. I like the fur, especially the tail and the back. Really good.
And now- I'm really glad that you're proud to be a Christian. I mean, God's so awesome that it's pretty hard to be not proud, huh? You've been totally been blessed with a gift, and I'm glad to see that you use it.

Hehe, this is really cute. You did a great job on the pose, and the color you shaded with works nicely. You ought to make a fursona out of this guy!

Thank you very much!
I just used a regular old HB pencil to shade in the drawing, but I think that simplicity is best sometimes. Heheh.

Way to be proud! It's so awsome to find other people who are so proud of what Jesus did for them!!! Because Jesus is pretty much the coolest.
And this drawing is pretty much the cutest. Again, fantastic shading! and a really clever idea to use the shot of the elephant in 'Jungle Book' something I would have never thought of!

Hehe, that's one cute pose. The way his nose is up in the air reminds me of that little elephant from the Jungle Book when he's marching. Soooo adorable.
Christianity's great, but do you ever notice that just about everyone calls themselves a Christian even if thier religion is something totally different from your own...

Mitch-el In reply to sharkie19 [2008-05-07 00:12:57 +0000 UTC]
Ha! Wow, you hit it right on the dot! I used a screenshot from that very sequence (in The Jungle Book) for reference.
Believe me, I'm about as pure as they come as far as Christianity goes. Everyone else who is astray needs to get with the program if they're to have a set base. If you're curious, here is a link to the church that I attend: [link] And here's the page detailing what they believe in: [link]
Feel free to take a peek if you'd like! I'd rather not get into political/religious discussion though, since that can lead to nasty results and, frankly, I'd like to keep things on a tension-free level. Heh.
Thanks for the comment!

It looks like he could be singing!
Nice drawing. The only thing that sort of struck me as unnatural is how his back limb is in front of his front limb like that.

Mitch-el In reply to iPixelated [2008-05-07 00:20:31 +0000 UTC]
You know, I realized my mistake after I inked and scanned it in, so I just let it go. That's another one of my flaws: I often place a human or animals' feet/limbs too far apart from each other, albeit accidentally. Work on that, I must.
Thanks for the comment and critique!
