Description **Update! I spun the drawing around: I found out I like Salamander on top better**

Well, first of all, I know this piece is quite weird. I don`t know how I come up with this stuff, honestly.

Anyways!

This piece is supposed to be a companion to "Heaven and Earth".

Here we have Fire and Water but not as complementary elements but as clashing opposites.

Water is represented by Ondine, a water elemental. Ondines are the spirits of people drowned at sea. Here she represents water as the ocean: a realm exploited by men, but filled with secrets and lurking creatures that are outside of the boundaries of mankind. Water can give life, but it could be poisonous, contaminated and toxic. In this particular piece, and Ondine has been captured by sailors to protect the village, but as soon as she is released, the sea will take their selfish lives one by one.

Fire is here represented by Salamander, a fire elemental that lies dormant at the heart of a volcano. Here Fire represents the destructive forces of nature clumsily used by men against each other, and as natural disasters. Fire elementals like Salamander are feared and worshipped by men for protection against neighboring villages, but when they angrily awaken from their slumber, there is no distinction between friend and foe. In the end, nature is nobody`s servant.

Feel free to print and save this image, flip it around to decide who wins the clash!

Very nice as always. The myth themes and descriptions are near occultish, which from me is both a treat and a deep compliment. Your descriptions are very captivating and apt, makes me want to know more and also to see an illustrated story book of these things.

I also approve of the metal reference, of course. Just want to see those sailors get theirs to Savatage's "Sirens," heh.

Again, respect to your art and writing skills.

Thank you very, very much for looking into my art. About the description and stuff, I want to illustrate a few pieces on these character following their story...if it all could be bound into a book, that would be great!

Savatage! nice comparison, didn`t think of that but it`s an amazing coincidence. I think this piece has a lot of heavy metal in it, many people mentioned that. Guilty as charged! I`m a Metalhead!

Thanks a million.

You're welcome. You should look into illustrated work, complete w/writing, of course. At least a set of prints.

I don't know if you know the band Nevermore (or its predecessor,Sanctuary) but I like them a bunch, one of my all time favorites. Warrel Dane's lyrics in particular have inspired some of my greatest writing and ideas.

I think Metal lyrics get always overloooked - there is a lot of artistry and imaginery there. I know Sanctuary! they`re pretty good.

I`ll keep updating the clash between these two girls. Who would win? It`s not a fair fight since Ondine is bound, chained and buried!

Take care!

This is lovely, it's like a rock show. I dont know why I got that feeling when I first saw it. I especially like the combination of colors and how well it portrays movement! Lovely!

Hi! Well, this rock show will turn into a metal show because I`m planning to take these characters and their battle further!

Thanks!

This picture is very expressive again like all of your pictures! I like the structure of the Ondine's skin - it looks very convincing for a seadweller.

I'm just puzzled at your choice to draw her hair in a reddish hue. I think the "clashing opposites" are watered down by it (pardon the pun ^^), and the reddish theme of the Ondine doesn't fit so well with the little blue water corner.

The fire effect of the SAlamander's hair looks very cool, by the way.

You are totally right. It is something I didn't give thought to, I just wanted her to look a bit more tender than Salamander and before I knew it, the whole thing was reddish!

Yeah, definitely "watered down" I wanna bring these two characters back somehow, I really like them, even more than anything I'vde done before

Thanks!!
