Description
This is Alberich, one of the God Warriors of Asgard, receiving an Amethyst Sword. Its previous owner seems to have been consumed by its draining power.Alberich is (c) of Toei/Masaami Kurumada, the gift from beyond the grave is not.

Well...Thanks for asking! I was planning to write a journal on that subject.
When I started sketching for Alberich, I did all this research work. It turns out that Alberich, in the orginal Folk Stories, is a dark elf. I wanted to push the character to an extreme by making him a bit inhuman (hey, he's a God Warrior!) I also wanted to inject the character with some actual Pre-Roman character and I came up with the idea of giving him a Tartan skirt. I wanted the armor to be more rocky and geologic, so I went through several pictures of fossils and sedimentary rocks.
In terms of concept, Alberich represents to me the use of the forces of nature for selfish purposes, forces we don't understand. The skeletons are literally inspired by the nameless Tarot card (XIII)...people who held power once but now are just dust 'n' bones. Is Alberich gonna end up like that? time will tell...
