Meet the most advance and expensive robot on Robot Wars. This is Mortis! Build by Rob Knight, Arthur Chilcott and Chris Sorsby from Nottingham & Cambridge, Mortis was on Robot Wars from series 1-4. It was so advance beyond its time as it cost £40,000! (which in the US is $54,000). Thats what the show claimed with the robot being 'valued' at £250,000 (US its $343,000) towards the end of its appearances. It would also become the first robot to run Nickel-Cadmium batteries, which are still used in some combat robots to this day. Mortis was armed with savage axe made of Diamond-edged Tanto and a lifting arm to flip and self right. It was a tank looking bot on tracks with speed at 12mph. Made the semi finals once in series 2, but struggled after that to get through there heats due to reliability problems. There last showing was the Series 4 War of Independence event, where the team ended Mortis's Robot Wars career on a high note winning there first title. Technology has advance in robot combat over the years so would Mortis do better in the modern age of robot combat? Will never know.
