Description
This is Buddie Hawks with his mechanics gear and Ditcher mask. For Buddies' original look and bio, click here [link]Buddie’s heavily padded mechanics vest contains pods with tools and snap-on attachments for the equipment he uses to repair vehicles in the field as well as a tool belt and pouch. Stainless and rust proof, the majority of Buddies tools are made of tungsten or stainless steel and can be used as melee weapons if the need arises. The arms and legs of his uniform have removable puncture-proof pads that are resistant to most bladed weapons.
Buddie wears Ditcher mask, which can shoot intense force beams that are capable of blasting away large amounts of dirt, rock and soil creating instant deep trenches and ditches that can trap and wreck enemy vehicles. The beams of ditcher are powerful enough to powder and destroy pavement as well as solid rock and can even pulverize solid bedrock.
The beams from Ditcher can easily crumple and destroy heavy armor and blast entire vehicles out of Buddie’s way though doing so is often dangerous since a miss could result in the beam traveling great distances and injuring or killing civilians or destroying property.
Buddie is the pilot of Wildcat, a modified 1985 Ford F150 tow truck than can convert into a high-rise fast attack vehicle. Wildcat has incredible maneuverability and defensive capabilities making it a very dangerous vehicle to compete with.
Wildcat has an internal gyroscope that keeps it upright when transformed and it prevents the truck from toppling due to its high center of gravity in this mode. When the cab of the vehicle is in its battle mode it can tilt and swivel 360 degrees to allow the pilot a full view of the surrounding area as well as allow Buddie to attack an enemy from any angle.
In the undercarriage of the vehicle Wildcat carries a half dozen manhole-size steel disks that can be fired rapidly from under the front grill at enemy vehicles. The disks impact with enough force to penetrate and crumple light armor as well as snap axels, crush gas tanks and destroy tires.
The front headlights hide twin “concrete” cannons that can fire high pressure streams of liquid that instantly hardens into a rock like substance within seconds. Once hardened, the substance can immobilized enemies or their vehicles, create make-shift barriers or fill in holes and craters in terrain rapidly.
The five foot chrome plated bars on either side of the wrecker’s bed are carbon tip saber saws that can swing out and lock into place rapidly. The saws can cut through standard steel, wood and plastic easily and can cause massive amounts damage.
The boom winch arm itself conceals a high powered energy cannon that can shoot plasma beams capable of blasting through tank armor or aircraft fuselage. The cannon can angle upwards to fight flying vehicles or down to shoot at pursuing land vehicles.

Ditcher reminds me of a samurai kabuto or knight's helmet.

It always reminded me of the metal owl from the original Clash of the Titans.

Fantastic factfile! Very very impressive! Love the Gyroscope angle and the detail on the Ditcher mask!
Thinking like this makes me think too!

Thanks I put in a lot of research on Buddie and his vehicle. He's probably my favorite MASK character though I never much liked Ditcher as his mask.

I see - explains a lot about his garb details and such. Ditcher was a pointless mask, what it can do could be done with Blaster, Spectrum, Backlash, and maybe even Aura - even though you have given it value in your description!

Yeah I mean all it can do is make instant ditches, which is fine, I mean I can thing of offensive and defensive things for it but Penetrator was a much better mask power on top of looking better.
I did like that they gave Buddie more of a mechanic's outfit to go with his job but all the little pouches and pods on the vest are a pain in the ass to draw

I can imagine - and I thought Penetrator was very slick for what he also did too - master of Infilrtation.
Ditcher is like giving James Bond a shovel...

Thank you I like his outfit as well but I have to say I hate the Ditcher mask. It's just a mass of odd angles that makes Buddie look like the metal owl from the original Clash of the Titans.
Right after this series the toyline started to produce worse and worse looks for the characters and their masks. It got to the point where they all looked like they were dressing for Mardi Gras instead of undercover. And I shit you not some of the MASKs had fucking hats incoporated into the designs. A helmet with a hat on top. Think of the stupidity of that and the person who made it.

No problem , the mask is like a complicated big daddy head from bioshock
it looks cool though.
Pfft Buddie's mask doesn't look that gay
OH NO!! hats!!! what the hell where they thinking! bright colours is one hing but bloody hats, they hired some modern bastard fashion designer didn't they

I guess but it's more owl looking to me. It doesn't make it look gay just difficult to get the angles right.
Some used animal based ones, which are fine with me, but then they started making them look more and more insane. Again missing the whole point that these guys are trying to be in disguise until the last minute.
Here [link] take a look at the how as the toy series progressed it went more and more off track

No I meant the mask you drew isn't as gay as the owl from the original titans
Making them look more flashy then heroic, I guess the people behind thought they knew better then the public and did whatever the hell they wanted.
Some of them are too colourful, what was with the pit stop toy lol! the bilboard! really!
what were they thnking

I knew what you meant. And hey I love the original Titans movie.
That remake was silly and boring.
Still not sure what they were thinking. Like with the Split Seconds line. It's a cool concept but they just went about it all wrong. Almost always one vehicle would be awesome and the other would be a piece of shit. Like Detonator. It split into an attack helicopter and a go-kart with two guns.
I actually had the Pit Stop Catapault A lot of the stuff in the Racing Series was ambush stuff. Like the Billboard would just open up and start blasting at shit but it couldn't move easily. The Pit Stop was actually mobile though why you would waste time with a catapault when you have laser cannons and shit like that is beyond me

More reasons to pay for actaul concept artists and writers so they don't screw it all up. such cheesy toys.
They just looked so wimpy and half assed, anyone could have made them. one minute they bring out old weapons like one of them with a crossbow and next it's a transformer style RV/ motorcyle

Many times the toy company does do that but they will come up with a theme for each line so collectors will want to get the whole set. So each new wave in a series will have some sort of underlying thread to them or the new thing is a "build a Figure" where each character in the series comes with a body part to construct a super figure if you collect the whole set.
Yeah it was kind of sad. Like I could understand if a figure carried a crossbow since it's a deadly silent weapon but a catapault is insane. If the gas pump became a jet pack or a cannon or missile launcher then I could see the use for it.
The only real concept I liked from the Split Seconds line were the hard light clones of the drivers.

Oh, I know what you mean, we have some here. it's one big money scam really, a couple look worthy of buying but other at like the mc donalds toys.
lol, too primitive for the M.A.S.K they seem full of technology so a catapault is well why , a missile launcher is the way to go
I thought the disco line would be your favourite

MJMJR In reply to Inspired-By-Boredom [2011-02-18 01:25:14 +0000 UTC]
Yeah or they are characters you really don't care about enough to buy but because they come with that body part for the build a figure you get forced into it.
Exactly. No matter how high-tech the explosives it's launching the catapault is just silly.
I liked everything right up until the Split-Seconds series in MASK. I didn't like the disco line but I did like the Pimp varient of Destro from GI Joe.

Perfect exampe, the Pink poweranger (don't know their names, didn't like them) anytime there were figures and occasionally outfits back when they were popular the shevles would be empty apart from the pink one so they bagen making well these and the silly wildlife ones lol
To hell with steel bolted electronically locked doors, lets have a wooden draw brigde and a scare crow
A pimp style version of destro these sorts of silly versions always go down well.

I think your thinking of someone else. Bob the Goon was the henchman that worked for Joker in the 1989 Batman movie. He shoots him at the parade after Batman steals his balloons with the Batjet.
