Two years have passed since the end of the Coyote Gang. With Sid Burn, Molo and Boogie in jail, Beeswax dead and Loki locked up in a government mental ward the Vigilantes have disbanded and gone their separate ways.

Houston has settled down in New Mexico with Convoy where she’s opened up her own garage and towing service taking advantage of her mechanical skills while Convoy’s trucking business has been booming.

The two have never been happier but Houston is still suffering from amnesia and now she’s been having strangely vivid dreams about a far-off high-tech future with threatening figures and a sinister old man that seems vaguely familiar to her.

One day Houston was accompanying Convoy on one of his long hauls when she fell asleep in the passenger seat and once again had a vivid dream about the sinister old man and his minions preparing to attack her and Convoy. It was then she was awakened by a portal opening behind their truck and the people from her dreams flooding out in futuristic vehicles that opened fire on them.

Totally unprepared for the attack, Convoy’s truck took massive amounts of damagefrom behind and caught fire before it was forced off a cliff killing him on impact. Houston barely managed to jump free from the burning truck and grabbed onto a ledge as the attackers escaped.

Furious, confused and heart-broken, Houston made her way back to her garagein New Mexico, modified her tow truck for battle and vowed to find out who attacked her, why they murdered Convoy and most important of all get revenge on them all.

Tracking her attackers to Arizona, Houston got into a skirmish with Dusty Earth, a Native American also seeking revenge on the Coyotes for the desecration of his tribe’s ancestral village and burial ground two years ago by the Coyote Gang.

Houston managed to escape Dusty but not before stumbling onto briefcases filled with plans that look like Coyote plans. It was then Houston realized to her horror that the people she has been dreaming about were real and that the Coyotes and their backers OMAR were back.

Following their trail to an abandoned plantation on the Louisiana bayou where she fought Obake who escaped but not before Houston got a hold of more Coyote plans leading her to the NASA Space Center, Cape Canaveral, Florida.

On her way to Florida Houston met up with Agent Chase, an FBI agent who claimed he came from the future tracking down the same criminals Houston was after. At first she didn’t believe him until she realized the creepy old man from her dreams was Slick Clyde, one of her old Vigilante comrades who went bad and joined OMAR.

Chase and Houston successfully protected the Cape launch site from both the Coyotes and the Drifters, a third group of malcontents fighting both sides for their own individual goals. The duo then dogged the Coyotes fled to a steel mill in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where they intended to sabotage the mill and rob a passing money train.

It was during this time Houston realized that besides the cybernetic armband she freed herself from OMAR had also implanted something in her brain back when they turned her into a cyborg. The implant was connected to the futuristic OMAR cyborg Dallas 13 from the future relaying what it was seeing in real life to her as dreams. Now that Dallas 13 was in the present her link to him had become stronger making her visions more frequent and intense giving Houston the ability to track the Coyotes down through her link to him.

Tracking Dalla13 to a nuclear power plant in Minnesota, Houston battled the Drifters Padre Destino and the Garbage Man to protect the facility.

Afterwards her old friend John Torque, who had also become embroiled in the fight against these new groups informed her that a trio of stunt motorcyclists called Team Fast had been scouring the country looking for her. When John floated the idea that they may be Houston’s siblings from her former life she became more determined than ever to finish the fight with the Coyotes and OMAR to find out the truth about her past.

Tracking the Coyotes to a ski resort in Utah Houston battled Slick Clyde and his henchmen who were robbing the winter games. Houston then confronted Dallas 13 appealing to his humanity the same way Convoy did with her years ago and encouraged him to break free from OMAR’s control. Instead, Dallas 13 tried to break Houston’s arm and she narrowly escaped the cyborg making her rethink how to handle him when next they met.

Houston tracked the Coyotes to Pacific Harbor, Long Beach, California which became a three-way battle between the Vigilantes, Coyotes and Drifters. With the Vigilantes at nearly full strength again all they really lacked was Convoy to lead them. It was then that Houston realized if she could defeat Dallas 13 she could use his time travel technology to go back in time and save Convoy.

Houston followed the Coyotes to Alaska and prevented them from destroying the Alaska pipeline. Houston then defeated Dallas 13 in both vehicular and one-on-on combat, destroying the cyborg and salvaging his personal time travel device.

Houston then time jumped into her past self in time to yank the wheel on Convoy’s truck preventing him from taking the fatal shots that sent him over the cliff. Houston and Convoy then defeated the attacking Coyotes sending them running.

Shiela, fellow Vigilante and Convoy’s niece, then helped the Flying All-Star Trio reunite with Houston at the FBI Academy where she was enrolled. The trio revealed Houston was their long-lost older sister Tanya who had vanished from a Houston Gym when Tomey, Romey and Leilah were in their early teens.

Reunited at last with her siblings at last Tanya finally knew who she was and where she came from. Thanks to the well-publicized reunion her three sibling’s daredevil careers skyrocketed while Tanya took a much-needed vacation with her man Convoy.

Artist Comments:

I feel like the developers really couldn’t make their minds up when it came to Houston’s tow truck because one version of the game used a 1961 Chevrolet Apache 10 and the other used a 1961 Dodge D-Series as the original starting model but both versions when upgraded fully become a 1956 Ford F-100.

This makes absolutely no sense. If anything, the truck should have upgraded to a 1976 Chevy Silverado since that’s what took over for the Apache brand in real life.

The only other vehicle in the game that upgrades to a totally different brand, make and model from its original version is Convoy’s rig. It goes from being a 1954 Peterbilt 351 to a 1977 GMC General but it at least upgrades forward to the 1970s when the game is set.

So given the choices I went with the 1961 Chevrolet Apache 10 as the base model because I feel it has a much more unique and iconic look than the 1961 Dodge D-Series and the tow truck livery just looks nicer on it.

Also, in both Houston and Dallas 13’s stories her tow truck is the 1961 Apache 10 model in the FMV and story mode stills between levels.

Another weird thing is if you play the Dreamcast version of the game the truck starts out as the rusty, beat-up Apache 10 model but the PS1 and N64 game starts you off with a pristine Dodge D-Series.

It’s puzzling because in terms of raw computing power, the Dreamcast was the more powerful of the home systems the game was available on but the less powerful PS1 should have been able to use and support the same model easily. Even with the N64's limitations with it's cart system should have also been able to do this so why the developers made this change doesn't really make any sense.

I combined the paint scheme of the Dodge game model with the Apache 10 version of the vehicle and gave it a modified version of the bull logo on the hood and doors. I added lettering to the logo to differentiate it slightly from Convoy’s plain red bull logo.

I didn’t want to use the original door logo for the junky version of the Apache 10 model because it’s a simple black square logo with heavily blurred white lettering on it which made it indecipherable.

Another change I made was giving it a yellow emergency light which is what tow trucks traditionally have rather than the red one the developers gave the game model.

I went with a more detailed and accurate towing hook and steel cable pully system than the game does. If you look close in the game the skin on the towing cable and armature is actually a metal chain but from what I read chains are the weakest thing you can use for towing so I went with an extra thick steel cable.

I used the Alaska level as the setting since this is where her final battle with Dallas 13 takes place in her quest. I also went with showing how the tow truck special can be used to drag and smash vehicles into things to damage them as well as catapult them against things.

I originally was going to have Dallas 13 smashing into oil drums and exploding them but I thought the lighting wouldn’t balance well with the bright lights of the truck so I opted for Houston smashing Dallas 13 against a rocky outcropping.
