Description

I haven't done much abstract in quite a long time having focused more defined subjects as well as photography. I found when I went to paint the other day I had a million ideas but I couldn't separate any of them out and I ended up scrubbing my canvas at least 3 times at the end of very frustrating sessions. Today, a bit of a break-through in that I stuck with a palette of colours a friend inadvertently mentioned.
This painting is not what I set out to paint today, or yesterday or any day for that matter and it needs some time to grow on me. I can't even decide if I want to hang it vertically or horizontally though vertically is appealing to me more and more.

I called it Laughing Turmoil because I have been in such turmoil over not being able to clearly express on canvas what I had been thinking of... Laughing is a bit of a sarcastic description of what I was actually doing.
It has layers and layers of texture, and was painted almost entirely using a palette knife.
