Description
This is intended as a counterpart to [link]Kaitlin is skinny. A lot of times, images of her garner catty remarks about how she needs to eat more, or whatever. Anyhow... I'd been thinking of doing a shot of her sitting in a corner with a plate with a single baked bean on it, but then I realized that it'd be pretty hard to see what was going on. Besides, the nasty remarks are often unsubtle - which means an unsubtle image is more likely to work.
Anyhow, I find it amazing that people are so concerned about whether a complete stranger is fat, or thin, or tattooed, or - whatever. As if it's their business, somehow? Well, if it's my business, I make sure my models are well-fed.

You make a very good point with this. I like it.
One question though. Are the burgers, etc, real or are they photoshopped in? Good picture either way. It brings up a really good point like I said.

the burgers are real - the funnel was supported by a wire that I photoshopped out.

Probably all the grease. I found out the hard way grease causes heartburn by eating McDonald's.

I agree. I get an upset stomach instead of heartburn.
Most fast food (though I don't eat it much anymore) doesn't make me sick. McDonald's...gah! Everytime I eat there, I get sick...It's sad. I loved that place as a child.

Yep. Eating disorders are largely obsessive-compulsive disorders and respond well to antipsychotic meds. It's a neurological problem not a behavioral problem or a moral weakness.

Alot of the time people are just so sick of the image of thin being beautiful being reinforced so much and mabey they are jelous, but that's no excuse for being rude. I have thin friends and not thin ones too, but they are still beautiful anyway. They have low self esteem sometimes because they see themselves as "fat" and i wish people would just shut up about others' bodies because they belong to somebody else, but i don't make snippy comments about those who are thin because i don't blame them. Mabey they can't help but be thin and mabey they worked for it, but that doesn't mean they deserve such comments.

I agree 100%. As a photographer, I stare at people's bodies all the time. But - hey - tattoos, stretch marks, fat, skinny, whatever it's not my business. I just get to decide whether or not to lift my camera.

I myself have a hard time eating after a certain point of full-ness, and I credit my skinniness to that.
Tell ya the truth, the fact that I can count my ribs in the mirror (when I put my arms up) disappoints me far more than my +350-pound boyfriend's appearance.

Being a little underweight is nothing to be ashamed of if it's not ur fault, my b/f is taller and thinner than me but trying to gain weight makes him sick( he can't hold still) and he has put on about ten pounds in the past year. but i don't see being unable to overeat as an eating disorder, i can't eat more than a certian amount either. I do have a few friends who don't like being as skinny as they are also, they don't like the fact that they are not as filled out as they would like to be but i don't see them as unhealthy either it's just the way their bodies are.

Someone on DA suggested to me to lift weights to gain weight. It builds muscle mass, and muscle weighs more than fat. Pass that on to your boyfriend, if you like. ^^

yeah, i think that's the kind of weight he's tryin to gain, like i said he's gained 10 pounds this year but i think it was muscle and he's just so tall and lanky tou can bearly tell the difference. i think he is using some weights but thanx 4 the suggestion.

Im so jealous of you both. 3 different medications I am on suppress the "feeling full" mechanism, and make me crave certain foods, as well as increase fat absorption, so I cant help but put weight on unless i am -very- careful. I loose it slowly, and gain it fast, but others dont know it. So i have the other problem- people judge me as greedy, as a junk food addict, and as lazy, when I probably do more exersize and eat more veggies than them!
But thats the problem isnt it. If you're just different to how someone thinks you should look, its a problem. if you're fatter than they think you should be, you're wrong. If you're thinner than they think you should be, you're wrong, and if you're exactly perfect...
They hate you from jealousy.
Whats a girl to do eh?

shadoflamedragon In reply to LRJProductions [2008-07-22 06:03:00 +0000 UTC]
why the meds? do you need to gain?, or is it that the full feeling is too strong that you hardly feel hungry without them?
Anyway ur right, it seems a girl can't make everyone happy (i know a girl who makes herself vomit sometimes just for that reason) so it's just best to try to stay healthy, the people whose opinion should matter will only want you to be happy with urself and the others can just stfu because if they judge u that way then the clearly don't know what you are going through. I only came to that thought after going through middle school heavier than i am now thats 6 years of gradually losing weight while growing at the same time and though i don't qualify as "thin" my weight isn't a health problem.

haha, no nothing to do with weight actually
They're for depression, asthma, and contraception! (newly married, looking for a new version of the latter) the weight gain is the unfortunate side effect. Its more important that i have a clear mind, clear lungs, and clear womb though, than i be a few sizes smaller, so I kind of just have to do what i can and lump the rest. I've been at the stage of making myself sick out of misery at my size, and I'm not even that big, just enough to despise my reflection (im an artist too, so sensitive to body image stuffs) I'm getting older now, and thinking the same as you.
If someone judges me adversly because they can see a bit of spare tyre beneath my shirt, then the onus is on them for being so shallow. Just like if someone judged you, or someone else adversely for seeing some rib beneath a shirt, it'd only be a sign of their shallowness. it should be the execution of your image, if anything that one is judged by. I mean, are the clothes neat, clean, and suitable for the situation? If the person is neat and clean, then what is there to complain about? If they respect themselves, then others should too. Im slowly getting to the "stfu" stage xD

exactly my opinion, if somebody won't give me a chance just because of my body image then they are too shallow for me to get along with anyway, besides, good health is more important. though i have been judged by my clothing, i wasn't messy, revealing, or even innapropriate, just different from what others were and a woman said i needed to leave a middle school friend who was draggin me around
in a public park at my own school's event (i'm a senior in a k-12 school) I was a little like O.O "what a b-i can't say bad things pre-teens are here."

I agree. People have such poorly concieved notions of other people's well-being. The reverse is also, true. Many times people are considered obese if their ribs aren't showing. I am a perfectly healthy person. I work out and my college major is physically demanding (a fact that I love... Mmmm digging is good!). I do have a lot of muscle because of this. People expect that I have a problem because of my clothing size and don't see me in the dirt with a shovel eight hours a day.
