Description Irina.

This image had some contrast problems - too bright left to right; I corrected it with application of a curve layer and a gradient mask. The technique is described here: [link]

An annotated plan of how the adjustment layer was set up (and what it looks like without it) is here:

One day I might understand Photoshop fully.
But I know what I like, and I like this.
Pose ,style what more can I say.
Well done.

Photoshop is insanely deep software. If you want to make progress with it, just make sure to try to work on a new "trick" every week. Eventually they suddenly all begin to make sense.

I think you did a good job with the lighting. I like the way it accents her breast and then flows down into the the folds of the fabric.

Gorgeous work! I hope you don't mind if I use it for pencil studies. I'm not good enough to have any of them be finished works, I'd just be doing it for my own edification.

I'm seriously thinking about getting this one to the parliment opposition.I mean, the lady doing really shouldn't be around kids(as her job requires). At least that's my view.I mean they could put her in a desk job out of the schools or something like that.

By the way, how are you?

Probably better to play it though the media, no?

I'm OK. It's been a depressing winter. But I've survived worse.

Hi Marcus,

I'm glad you're o.k.
I really am.
It gets better, you know.
Good idea about the media...my wife thinks so too.
It'd be right up your alley...lots of people hacking on to my computer and stuff...
I know what you mean about depressing...this winter has sucked for me too.
I lost 2 good friends in the interim of my absence , Janice and Jim ...Janice through, well, she's the one causing all this trouble and Jim through Iraq (an IED).

Hello, I'm drawing a portfolio for an art school, and I was wondering if I could draw this picture for a figure study? I'll post it to my gallery and link it back here to give you credit, if it's okay, but if it's not, just let me no and I won't do it! Thanks~!

WOW .. i wish psp could do this, or that someone knew HOW to do it in psp cuz i'm pretty sure it could improve the shading and such that you've done here .. not to this extent ... and the model is just insanely EPIC ... beautiful beautiful woman.

This is a gorgeous photo. I'm also amazed at how you can fix things with technology!

The pose, shadows and contrasts make this photo a great reference for a drawing... I don't really draw, but I'm currently on a croquis/art drawing course where we have a live model and I only recently started paying attention to such things. I think it just goes to show how many dimensions a good photograph contains!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mjranum In reply to Vastatuuli [2010-03-01 06:25:19 +0000 UTC]

Well, with an old darkroom process using negatives and paper, I'd have accomplished the same thing by doing a base exposure and then "burning" the side of the image that was too light, using a slightly different color setting on my enlarger-head to give a variation in contrast.

What I find amazing about digital photography is how closely it maps to "traditional" photography. I guess they're all just imaging processes.
