Description I started this series of small paintings dedicated to seasons about two years ago. But somehow it wasn't working out like I'd expected, so I put it aside for a while. Now I've finally decided to get my arse in gear and finish what I started. This is the only one I'm going to keep as it is. I've recently finished Fall (will submit shortly). I didn't like the way Summer and Winter turned out at all, so I'm reworking them and hopefully will be done with them soon.

Well now, hopefully that wasn't too confusing. Oil on illustration board, approx. 8x11,5".

Thanks so much! Yes, while the paint was still wet I gently drew the hairs with the tip of the blade.

Oh, this is gorgeous!

The highlights in her eyes kind of makes it look like she has crescent moons for irises..

Was she modeled after someone live or from imagination? She kind of has the look of a young Shirley MacLaine..

Excellent work!

No, this one's not modeled after anyone in particular. Thanks for all the generous comments, I always enjoy hearing from you!

The trick with the hair I kinda stole from artist Jim Burns. In one painting he painted the hair normally and then added details with an x-acto knife. If you're careful the point is sharp enough to add really fine hairs but not sharp enough to cut through the surface. I use this trick all the time now.

That's really cool! I'll have to try it sometime Does it work with paints other than oils?

You might want to give it a try, but I think it'll only work as long as the media is wet.

Very nice indeed, these are somewhat a different style from you arent they? Your talents show diversity....

I wouldn't say it's a different style. I just don't do lots of oils, so maybe that's why it looks different from other stuff (like pencils, etc.). Thanks for the fav, BTW.
