...i love owls...and this is really pretty...
...i never tried to use those white pencils on dark paper ...till now every time i bought a new box of collored pencils i couldn't find a use for them ...i prefered those pastels that look loke chalk instead...

Quality matters a lot. Polychromos are softer than most color pencils - kinda like pastels.
And, If I remember correctly, I actually used white pastel for the lightest parts here for enhanced effect.
Otherwise, white is useful for blending. It's the color I use the most actually

I drew on black paper in the first place. However, brightness changed when I scanned it so I did edit it a bit with paint.net

Saw this in bluediscord's feature on wings.
This is an amazing piece of artwork.
The use of coloured pencils on a black backdrop give so much depth and detail to the finished image.
Superb level of detailing for all the feathers on the wings and the head.
Simply gorgeous
