Description

On the southern continent, grasslands have a large role in guiding the course of evolution. Having a very prominent niche vacant, like grazers, creates a vacuum that will quickly be filled. This is exactly what happen just 10 million years post-estabilishment. The ground lemurs, being herbivorous, started grazing the hardly digestable grasses. With time, their stomachs adapted to the large amounts of silica and cellulose, their digestive tracts got much longer and they attained a larger body size.

But living on the hard dry soil of the grasslands takes a toll on your paws. So they grew their own shoes...
They became fully digitigrade after developing hooves from their fingernails. This allows them to run much faster and more efficiently than previously. This new clade (Kitronylemuria = "hooved lemurs") has become very successful in a relatively short amount of time. 20 million years post-estabilishment, they have taken over the Southern grasslands and are spreading throughout the continent.

Basal kitronylemur:

The ancestor of all future kitronylemurs lived in the Southern grassland about 19 million years post-estabilishment. They live in relatively small social groups with no noticeable hierarchy between individuals. Their diet is mostly grasses with occasional fallen fruit and other plants.
