I'm just gonna come right out and say it. Fluttershy is the most overrated pony of the Mane Six, if not of the entire series. Now that doesn't mean I hate her, and I will say there are certainly other characters who're objectively worse (*cough*Svengallop*cough*). But the problem is I feel like the only reason she is so popular with the fandom is because she's cute. Not to mention she tends to be easily forgiven for her wrongdoings more than any of the other Mane Six, which gives off a double standard from her fans. As in, they won't tolerate anyone making Fluttershy upset, but have absolutely no qualms if she does it to anyone else. Honestly, I feel like if Fluttershy had been the one to become an alicorn princess instead of Twilight, everyone would instantly be on board with it as opposed to the backlash Twilight got. Yes, that is how overhyped I think she is. But despite all of that, I don't think Fluttershy is by any means a bad character. It's her fans that I mostly take issue with in how they will praise and worship her no matter what she does.

I don't praise her no matter what she does. I do think that she makes mistakes and even has a few appearances that I don't like, but I like her because I find her to be the most relatable character on the show. Her being cute is just a bonus.

Again, I'm not saying Fluttershy is a bad character. She has had plenty of good moments and focus episodes throughout the series. I'm just saying that most of the time, it feels like her only purpose in the show is to provide cuteness fodder for the audience, and yet so many fans put her on such a high pedestal as this "perfect little angel" who can do no wrong.

Indeed. I agree with you. Because she truly does embody the purest form of kindness. Which is something you do not as "some form of currency to exploit and manipulate others for your own personal use" but because being kind is a morally acceptable thing to do and its healthy for us but it also affects others for the better. True kindness is when somebody naturally cares for people and helps people without expecting anything at all, in return. Such as Fluttershy and many other characters like her. They're all a lot more relatable than the vast majority of people believe.
Anger or spite is always optional. Kindness and love are always the best choices.

I've been saying that myself, for years now. It's almost like some kind of trend to be vitriolic and by giving myopic opinions in the most blatant way possible with a dogmatic attitude to back it up.
Oh well. If they choose to be that way? Then let them be. I'm learning to be more optimistic yet balancing things with some realism every now and again as time goes on. Like I'm sure Fluttershy would.
