This is such a unique shot, it's a shame that it's lacking in sharpness and contrast. Nevertheless, I haven't seen anything like it!

strange web indeed.. I guess the spider is happy then, when you took such a good picture of him and his web, when he probably had spent a lot of time making it

Haha, I'm glad to have made a spider happy. So he's like a model now?

Wow, I have never seen a web like that before, very neat! I have to agree with the previous comment, the image would be a lot stronger if the focus was stronger on the spider/web, because the things in the background are quite distracting.

Hmm its a shame, you could have focused more on the spider or the web but its kind of inbetween and seems a bit blury and you cant see the web very well or the spiders nice details. Still, your braver than me to get close to those things! Give me a nice butterfly any day

Keep trying!

you must not be afraid of spiders. I would never get that close, points for bravery.

you've done a good job of blurring the background, however, you haven't captured the subtleties of the rest of the web very well, so the colours of the backdrop really swamp the core image. if you had an even smaller focal plane [there's no exif info up, so i'm not sure what that'd need on your camera], you'd be able to let the background take almost a singe colour, and , if you used some stronger lighting [even a flash would probably work, though that might highlight the threads out of the dynamic range of the shot] you'd get the subtle detail of the thread into sharp clarity, making for a much prettier effect.

i think that the composition is pretty weak too, there's nothing obviously bold abot the shape of the image. the spider is flat at the middle, and you've got this in-focus blob of stuff in the corner too. i wasn't there when you took it, so i'm not sure what it would add/remove to/from the frame, but taking it at a stlant, or moving the spider to the side a little might have made it more exciting. since the spider is facing down, it might even be worth using your camera upside-down to make it more impressive.

Well just burn me why don't ya.

Actually, thank you very very much for the help. A comment like that is worth more than just "uh...great shot."
