Description Originally this was titled "Slender Man Camouflage" featuring him blending with a tree, but I thought it didn't look scary enough so I added lots of writhing tentacles and a sinister expression. This was also inspired by a nightmare I had last night where he lived in this large tree in my front yard, which was great since he kept away all the annoying kids, dogs and religious people away, but then he kept pestering me and stealing my supply of art paper.

Just type in Alyssa White You Tube Channel. She plays that game that has Slender Man in it. Everytime she fails to get all of the paper Slender Man gets her or something.

Oh dear -- that head is terrifying, a seemingly-normal neck and then a split and a almost-vaguely-featured tower of meat... I thought the chaos-of-claws look of the tenticals was scary, but the head is what gets me.

Very keen!

Wow. Thank you! I tried to be accurate at what I saw in my dream. That split-like tear was what scared me the most. I keep wondering it was his mouth, maybe it was a second mouth in his neck.

Yes -- I think vagueness in monstrousness is usually scarier than specific-ness, because your mind tries to fill in the blanks

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mmpratt99 In reply to KCclearwater [2013-01-24 21:09:17 +0000 UTC]

That probably explains the lack of a face. It's probably something so hideous that your mind simply refuses to process it as a defense mechanism, and what your mind does process, it comes rather distorted.

KCclearwater In reply to mmpratt99 [2013-01-26 17:25:46 +0000 UTC]

Interesting -- certainly possible, I have several instances of things like that in my latest website alone;

They don't always exactly jibe with what you said, but there's definitely elements of occlusion via defense mechanism in them.

Getting back to The Slender Man specifically, I also like the idea that the Actual Thing is that vague, as if its physical presense in our world isn't quite "complete" -- that it is an unfinished manifestation of an abstract idea.

(Let me say, I live for this crap -- toying with idea-concepts like that, with the practical application of "they are Really Here, happening in the world that our characters inhabit" )

This idea you just mention could also apply to faeries. That their etheral appearance is reflected by our preconceptions of faeries.

This is actually common occurrence in my dreams. I find something exotic like Slender Man or something from one of those Resident Evil games living in or near my house, and I end up having it as a roommate. This is rather puzzling cause I'm not one of those crazy fans of the particular horror genre.

i my opinion the most creepy one is the Rake or maybe BOB, they are very strange and act in ways that are not very normal knowin they dont have such powers as Slenderman.
