Why call it a "minigun" when there's nothin' mini about it?

Minigun was a name used because it was the smallest armament on a helicopter

I'm surprised that you have a full minigun, rather than a micro gunΒ like the XM556. Cool but rather impractical for large scale deployment because of its weight.

Well, this one was essentially a vehicle-mounted weapon modified for infantry usage, by guys like this:
img00.deviantart.net/fbaf/i/20β¦
Escea has a specialist 'heavies' squad known as the 16th Special Warfare Group, made up of allied Makthar. This was one of the weapons developed for them, along with the K-2/I and M-15 MSR. Their strength allows them to carry and use weapons like a minigun or HMG as an handheld weapon, and carry enough ammunition to make it viable.Β
Someone wearing a military-grade exoskeleton or exosuit could also wield one.

600-1500? why need a 6 barrels? it was possible to manage by one.

Preserves the barrels by alternating.

in that case two-three barrels which can be changed manually would be enough, is so more durable and is more practical
Though the rotor system looks more coolly

Well, the more barrels you have, the more the heat is shared, allowing the rate of fire to be upped considerably whilst preserving the barrels. In an infantry role, a very high ROF isn't too practical because of ammunition concerns. But this weapon can be mounted on a tripod or pintle and used as an area defence weapon. In such an instance its far more likely to be loading from a bigger ammunition source, or could be more easily reloaded.
The base model of this weapon, the K-142, is a vehicular weapon system with spade grips. This one, the I-model, is just repurposed with the chainsaw grip. Operationally it is exactly the same, and when the original system works so well...no need to fix what ain't broke
Thanks btw

Well, at such rate of fire, rather internal mechanisms will break, than theΒ barrelsΒ will heat up.Β Advantage of multibarrelled system in rate of fire (5-6000 r/m or more).
justΒ specification.

However, because all of the barrels have their own firing electrodes, the wear and tear induced by sustained firing, like the heat, is dispersed across all barrels.Β
The purpose of this weapon is suppression of an enemy position, which is why it's usually deployed alongside handheld HMGs like the K-2/I. Those guns tear into the enemy through hard cover and the miniguns keep heads down and sweep up stragglers.Β
Even with a toned down ROF, they'll still belch out more rounds than a conventional machine gun. It should be noted that these weapons are only fielded by a small unit called SWIG, which is composed of aliens called Makthar (eight feet tall, 400-500lbs). They have enough strength to lug the system and sufficient ammunition around and handle the recoil.

Let me be clear
Ameri......(wait this is in the ME universe)
Citadel People (NAILED IT)
I must declare that several Alliance, turian, and asari have died due to some politicians replaced their service rifles with gigantic gatling guns
Which are useless for infantry since you cant aim with them, you require a battery besides the ammunition, parts overheat and are expensive, mainteniance is a bitch, and its too heavy and our combatants cant allow to use CQC moves

Well, the intended wielder is an eight foot, four-hundred pound insect with natural hydraulically powered limbs, so size and weight aren't much of an issue. Ammo weight is cut by the lack of brass and links, while power comes from a lightweight V-Non in the gun itself. If you're Maktharian, equipped with cybernetic limbs and amped synthetic muscle or wearing the ECE, using this gun is fairly straight forward. If not, reality ensues.

Same as the Torul. There's a zeroed microcamera behind the forward grip that wirelessly connects with a headset and provides a targeting reticle.

But what if that micro camera fails, EMP, or you run outta batteries

MOAB23 In reply to devijavi [2013-08-27 20:27:21 +0000 UTC]
Since most weapons in this universe rely on electrical initiation (hence pulse rifles), they are hardened against electromagnetic interference. Wireless software for weapons is protected by firewalls to prevent intrusion. V-Non cells can provide power for several months of continous use and are small enough to transport in pouches/pockets. If the camera or software fails then its time to rely on the Mk.I eyeball and your tracers. So long as you can keep the recoil under control, hitting the target won't be too difficult, and with API ammo you'll be tearing through most forms of cover.

GREAT!
Now I will require to be 15 to 20 meters with this biggass gatling gun that weights as much as I do and that fires buckshot!
While a unexperienced 15 year old guerilla fighter can kill me with a PM Makarov
