What exactly is a pulse weapon? How does it actually work, and what differentiates it from other weapons?

Oh, the pulse is just an electrical 'flash' across the primer of the ammunition. So instead of a striker, the primer is 'pulsed' with an electrical current

Oh, I thought it was like some kind of primitive energy weapon. Y'know, one that fires a charge of energy, that kind of pulse.
They have those too, right?

Makthar use plasma- and electrical-based weaponry. However, when I was researching for different, more exotic weapons, a lot of them aren't particularly effective for combat. The plasma weapons I had to ensure used magnetic bottling to prevent premature 'blooming', the dissipation of the plasma in the atmosphere. Lasers, aside from being invisible, can be affected by atmospheric conditions as well. Most factions use some kind of kinetic weaponry, with a pyrotechnic or magnetic propellant-base.Β

Sounds like you did a hell of a lot of research. Most sci-fi writers or designers would just go with the stereotypical thing where aliens or future humans are so advanced technologically that any modern logic is unnecessary, that anything is possible, whereas you put a lot of thought into it and made a lot of reasonable decisions in regards to technological limitations. I applaud that.

Thank you ^-^
My inspirations for sci-fi have been things like, Aliens, Terminator and Avatar. James Cameron, who directed them, puts a strong grounding in realism alongside the fantastical elements, and that inspired me to do the same. I try my best when designing something to figure out how it works and build the aesthetics around it, rather than the other way round

Am I allowed to just have this weapon used as like the default pirate gun in a written setting on some RP site?
I will just link this url, so they will know you made it and be able to comment.
This okay?

Red often means evil. Are these guys the bad guys? Are they even human? All these weapons look like humans designed them. Just saying.

They're human.
Escea is an analogue to USA + Europe.
Rotha is an analogue to a USSR-style Russia.
Both are superpower nations and rivals.

Reminds me of the 'morita' from Starship troopers. Cool!

How balanced is the weapon? A 60 round bullpup sounds like it might be a little back-heavy. Does it have counter weights in the front or something else?

No real need. It's fairly lightweight across the board on account of using caseless ammunition, so it doesn't have any metallic cases for its rounds. Also lacks an extraction system and ejection port for the same reason to further reduce the weight .

Oh yes. I forgot the rounds were caseless. I'd love to be able to actually use this one day. Keep up the good work

A lot of the more expensive metals in this universe are very cheap as a result of abundant extrasolar mining operations, coupled with FTL technology and fairly low operating costs for large freighters in space.
