Description
Chenelle followed that sickly sweet smell for quite some time. At last she found the plant of her enchantment. It always struck her as odd that she found such putrid sweet smells so enchanting and she always thought they really did smell pretty awful. But still...

She had never seen a plant like this before. It was a comfortable size and looked as if it would be refreshing to sit in. It glistened with dew and had soft, fluffy aloe like tendrils. And that smell... Mmmmmm...

After some admiration of its many beautiful traits she hovered above and began to settle down into it as we would a bath or couch. Though as soon as she touched it she knew something was very wrong. It felt as if the plant gave her a little shove backwards. And when that happened she fell into the plant and her wings became stuck fast to the tendrils.

She tried to sit up and wriggle about to free herself but the ‘dew drops’ of this plant were unbelievably sticky. Worse, she realized the more she struggled the more she became entangled. Because the more she struggled, the more the plant wrapped its tentacles around her...

So she decided to rest and ponder her way out of this. Not moving seemed to pacify the plant too. Ironically, excepting the lack of freedom and the strange position she was in the plant was otherwise cool, comfortable, and refreshing. So much so it seemed that time was getting longer and she was feeling more relaxed. This confused her greatly for she knew that was not actually true.

After what seemed to be a very long time she realized she was cold. Not that she felt cold but that she was cold. It soon became her only thought. She was cold from the inside with all the cold she ever felt, all at once, and beyond all coldness she could ever imagine. She tried to move just to see if she could but had no energy at all. Soon she only thought of cold. It went on so long she forgot that she was thinking at all.

Then she felt them coming to help! But as her thoughts and her sense of passing time were becoming ever slower she soon forgot. She only remembered it when she felt them turn away. “No! Please don’t go! I need your help!!! Please... Please don’t turn away...” She felt one hot little tear fall across her face.

Then an enormous creature came and swallowed her whole.

At the rate I’m ‘printing’ this maybe the whole story will get finished in the next seventy years? Last year was:

Hopefully this year I will get a few more pieces out… MEANWHILE, GET OUTSIDE AND SEE THE LYRIDS METEOR SHOWER!!! (or all the other happenings in the sky!)

Critiques always welcomed and appreciated! Tutorials equally appreciated too. Every time I draw/paint/etc it is like I have to relearn everything since I don’t get to make a regular practice of it. Oh well. That’s totally on me, yes? Because how do you become an artist/athlete/etc??? By becoming an artist/athlete/etc and dedicating yourself to that.
