i don't think so and in fact think that this may be in direct retaliation to the pokemon anime that went overbored on this romance angle. bottom line Y and X share a sibling level relationship similar to Silver and Blue (especially since grace was responsible for taking care of him during his shut in years). in fact the one individual that hates the idea of X and Y as a romantic pair is X himself. on two occasions he almost attacked cassius for making girlfriend jokes and almost crushed erma's head when she as essentia tried approaching him disguised as Y in an affectionate manner. that gesture made Y immediately realize that this was a fake and reacted violently.
