Now that I think about it, I'm wondering something.
I know he's called Green in Japan, but why do I see so many English folk call him that and not by his English name? I'm just curious as to why he's not Blue to some, what I assume to be American, people.

In my case is because the fan translation I read, he was called Green, literally as in Japanese. Later, investigating I found out he was called Blue in english due to the game thing America did n.nU And so much more later I bought the mangas and yeah effectively he was called Blue in the official english... but I don't find sense calling him "Blue" if he got green eyes and call "Green" to Blue having blue eyes XD so I keep calling him Green and her Blue ~

when you think about it why would the second main character you meet be named after the third game made. it sounds pretty backwards. also calling green blue ruins the fire red leaf green joke/comment mewtwo makes during the chapter of the same name.

Explanation: Satoshi officially named him Green, but when Japan shipped the games to the USA, they got mixed up and named him "Blue".

Explanation:
He's original name is Green, and Green is actually more masculine than naming him Blue, after all... the female trainer is called Blue... but they switch their names on english version and it gives a lot of problems worldwide.... oh well....
and about charizard, Green indeed got a charmander as a starter, but in this point of the manga, he traded Red's Venasaur for his Charizard, in order to let Red escape from a trap. They traded back but at the end of the arc.

Me too. I call him "Blue", but that's just because I'm an American, plus I think that it suits him. No need to explain though, because I already know all about the whole regional naming thing.
But yeah, I think that Green/Blue Oak is the coolest character. He's like an awesome ninja!
