A comment was made to use this tutorial as a way to recycle old wigs into new ones with ponytails, and I found it a great idea to share this with fellow cosplayers.

So the wig doesn't try to fall off when you do this? I have problems keeping it on when the weight of the entire wig is all on one point.

Yep mine stays on pretty well. I can jump with it on if you saw my cosplay photo. Is the ponytail pretty low? As in more on the back of your head than the top? positioning the weight of the ponytail to be on the top (but not directly above just slightly, like most anime characters) keeps it from not falling off. Also keep in mind the length of the ponytail and the weight of it. Mine was not that long so it wasn't as heavy as other ponytails. I also bobby pinned the fuck out of my head and essentially staple the wig onto my hair/wigcap.

Although you made this tutorial some time ago, I thank you alot for it. I will definitely try this out when I get my wig. (Because I'm thinking of reusing my wig for other characters so I rather not get clip ons and such)

You're welcome :] I hope it's somewhat useful and understandable since the one part I forgot to take a photo of is (maybe) the most important part...

Yeah this could be helpful when reusing a wig! Very efficient.

Important question, what sort of wig are you using? Full lace wig or normal lace wig?

I'm using normal lace wigs. Fyi, this is the exact wig I used in this tutorial (eBay) [link]

Phew...my friend was telling me "There's no way you can tie a ponytail unless you use a full lace wig!<--The superbly natural looking kind of wigs" Then I got worried.
Glad to know that I can just get a cheap(er) wig meant for cosplay and then tie it.

I mean "full lace" means the wig is bounded with lace so that the wig blends in with your skin right? None of my wigs have extra lace around the edges. From what I researched online, I think lace-bounded wigs are more for natural looking wigs for everyday use and not for cosplay. Sorry if any of this info is wrong; I don't know much about types of wigs and whatnot.
The only problem I had with cheap cosplay wigs is that at the bottom part that attaches to your neck, the netting/underside shows, and every time I wear it I have to bobby pin it to my hair so that it won't curl out. I'd recommend not tying the ponytail so tight, but to give it a little flexibility so that the wig fits nice on your head.
