They had Tux the Linux Mascot in outfits or forms of various Mario characters, him riding on Yoshi, as a Pokemon character, as Kirby, as Crash Bandicoot, or Sonic the Hedgehog...They also had Tux making fun of Windows and dressed in Halo outfit or have the Halo logo on him.
But, not a single Rareware reference or Donkey Kong reference besides one Crystal XP image of Tux as DK himself. So, I might as well dress my favorite penguin in the outfit of my favorite monkey.

Yes. If he can dress as Master Chief, which obviously has a much better excuse to represent Microsoft, he can dress as the not-so-loyal pseudo-Windows icon, being Banjo.
