Oh yeah! I really feel that they've had this really weird bad romance thing going from the beginning. Its like the tale of the frog and the scorpion. It was inevitable that it would end badly. L was just 100 steps ahead of Light because he knew either Mello or Near would really be the ones to catch him up. L was a smart so damn smart it wasn't even funny!
I will forever be impressed with how he figured out Misa was the fake Kira with the whole phone thing. I laughed so damn hard, because he pissed the shit out of Light with that stunt. And when Light saw he had her secret phone. LOL Still cracks me up!

And the other is that the Shingami with Light (I forgot his name) constantlly eat apples. I'm not sure how much of a symbol is that, but it could be connected to the garden of eden.
F*ck there is manny syblols when you look for them.
But i'll stopp with the spam right now
Just to say again:
NOTHING GAY ABOUT IT!

Btw, i think the fact that Kira's name is Light is also connected to religion. I personally conect it to Satan, beacuse his name is Lucifer - The bringer of light.
But that's my personal opinion.

I happen to agree with you on this!!! There's a tons of religious symbolism running like a freight train right smack dab in the middle of this. This just happens to be my favorite one.

Yeah, i thought of Judas when i watched it, and then i said to myself: "Manny yoi fans will go crazy about it I'm pretty sure it is like that.
omg! Yaoi Jesus and Judas!!! (Just kidding)
Really a good moment in the anime, cosidered the fact that Light thinks he must be a god, and he and L are trying to kill eachother all the time, and to be friends at the same time.
As a pairing I don't really see this two together. They are weird evgen for yaoi couple, but i guess people don't care about it that much. After puting together Sasuke and Itachi - who are brothers - nothing can suprise me anymore. And not being a Yoi fan, i just ignore stuff like that.
But nothing gay in that scene for sure...
I love the way you have draw it
L FTW!

Creepy and intense with the symbolism. I don't get the pairing either considering that Light is an a-hole and KILLS L. :\

I always saw the symbolism and laughed when people thought of it as a 'gay' moment XD I can see what they are talking about but Judas and Jesus was the first thing that came to mind.
Very beautifully done I enjoy your use of lighting and colors!

Hmmm.... I have only one problem with this pairing. And that would be, it doesn't work. I only really like pairings where a relationship or feelings are referenced, even lightly. Like the Nabari No Ou Miharu and Yoite pairing for instance. But that's besides the point, it's pretty cute, even if impossible.

Oh,damn it...
Alright, let's think it's a Judas and Jesus scene...
What about the handcuffs?Isn't it means they are together at the same place, like bedrooms?
Seriously, that's a great scene,in symbolic or fangirlish version.I don't care...Really.As all the fans understand,we're looking at the same two guys, which one of them drying other guys foot...
(BTW;Is that program is SAI?I love the shining around them. )

I do NOT like LxLight mainly it's the fans I had a girl at my church who said "My mom makes me come here bu my religion is Yaoi-ism the church of LxLight." I told her I hope she's kidding and walked away. I mean yaoi-tards always say "SEE IT'S CANNON!" And I say "SEE IT'S RELIGIOUS REFERENCE!! Jesus washed Judas' feet before he betrayed him."

This is a really great picture! You've captured the scene quite beautifully, and I am completely in awe of everything here. As for the L/Light pairing being evidenced by this, it most definitely isn't.
But most of the "evidence" that we fangirls titter about arises from taking scenes/dialogue/gestures out of context. And indeed, seeing L washing Light's feet, and Light being uncomfortable and saying "You're soaking wet" while daubing at L's face, can definitely be construed as affectionate behaviour when taken OUT OF CONTEXT. It still isn't, but I'm just explaining why some people may see a given scene in such a way.
And I just want to say a few things, since you said the L/Light pairing creeps you out. I do not support the L/Light pairing myself, but I do see a very tragic relationship between the two, and I think my views can help explain why the pairing makes sense to some. First off, Death Note can be construed several different ways, depending upon the viewer. From my point of view though, I felt that L and Light were very similar - both obsessive and passionate about protecting the innocent, and to a greater extent, justice itself; both overly prideful to the point that they appointed themselves as the authority over justice; and both ignoring the law in their pursuit of justice, because they had convinced themselves they were the ultimate authority on right and wrong, and that it was imperative for them to continue their actions despite the legal constraints.
L and Light seemed to me to be two sides of the same coin, and the only difference between the two was fate. Light found the Death Note, and L found Kira. Both of them ran circles around each other, each convinced of his own righteousness, when neither of them were truly without blame. From their similarities, I felt that the two of them could have been the best of friends, had the Death Note never entered the human realm. I even think that, had they met under different circumstances, they could have made each other better. Both were so committed to what they believed in, and when confronted with a similarly unwavering belief within a companion, I think their minds would have been opened to a higher meaning of justice.
For that reason, I saw L and Light's relationship as a tragic one. Between them, they had the potential for the truest of bonds, but the universe is not perfectly ordered. It is chaotic, and even perfectly fated people/couples/events sometimes don't work out simply because of random circumstance. So that's my two cents. I think they would have been very close, so I guess some fangirls think they would have been a bit closer. I hope that makes more sense now, instead of just seeming like a creepy crack pairing.

i always really liked this scene... but i never quite understood it. why was L being so nice to Light? did he honestly start considering Light as a friend?? and after i saw this scene, i really thought/hoped that they would become friends or smthn [naive, i know] but then Light goes n kills L, and after L died, i honestly lost interest.
so if you have some insight on this scene, i'd like to know your PoV...

I'm just messing around hun.
I have never seen/read this anime/manga and to be honest I have no plans to do so in the near future. I have enough fandoms under my belt that I need to catch up on. XD
I've been on this site 5 years, if I was worried about spoilers I would never come onto this or any other site where fans may reside because there is always gonna be someone who has seen the show or read the manga before you and will inevitably spill the beans and tell everyone about it either in journal or art form.
I'm still catching up on episodes of Bleach at the moment and the manga is way ahead of that, yet half the artists I watch are Bleach fan artists, so I'm well used to 'spoilers'. It hasn't made me stop watching Bleach, in fact, when I get to a boring part (aka a side arc), it makes me look forward to getting to whatever part the people I follow have just written or posted art about.
Sorry if I upset or annoyed you in any way. I'm an Australian and we very much have a culture of poking fun at each other AND ourselves. I didn't mean to seem nasty, so I hope it didn't come across that way.

Its basically a religious reference, Jesus washes Judas feet before Judas betrays him, paralleling the situation between Light and L. They appear to be friends but Light has a sinister ulterior motive. :\

I guess that everyone thinks that malexmale mutual interaction relationships means yaoi, or just not Christians themselves.

I enjoy LxLight, but BxKira is my poison and has been for quite some time. That said, I can understand why this is interpreted as a yaoi scene, but it's clearly not. Death Note has very heavy religious undertones, and this scene is the epitome of that idea. I really can't see it as anything but. And your artwork is gorgeous dear. I adore the lighting on them both, and the water slick on their skin. Very lovely
